Opportunities and challenges for Romania’s engagement in international development – with focus on Africa

This event is the first one in a series of events with the objectives of:
- launching the idea of a network of Romanian experts/ professionals/ academia in development with a view of establish on a medium term ARCADIA – the Romanian Association for International Cooperation and Development
- discuss the challenges and opportunities of Romania as a new donor country (New MS’ development policy – NMS making use of the recipient/transition experience to advance development policies)
- discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Romanian-African relations
- to identify new ways to raise public awareness with regards to Romania’s development policy

Romanians in Development is the Blog of the currently beeing developed Network – ARCADIA: Romanian Association for International Cooperation and Development/Asociatia Romana pentru Cooperare si Dezvoltare Internationala.
ARCADIA aims at bringing together policy makers, scholars, activists with expertise in Development and Romania’s relations with the Developing World.
A first event of the Network , initiated by Madalina Pruna and Stefan Cibian and organized in cooperation with MEP Corina CRETU and GRSPSociety, was a one day conference organized on the 18th of February in Brussels. The conference brought together Romanian policy-makers, scholars and activists in order to discuss Romania’s approach towards development cooperation and Romania’s relations with Africa.
This blog aims at creating a virtual community of primarily Romanians who are engaged in development-related work. It should sever as a means for exchanging information with regard to the various aspects of development.
